Hello and welcome to ‘Achieve the Incredible’.
We are ordinary people working ‘Side by Side’ in the community for the community and we couldn’t do it without your support.
Lots of people go about everyday living by putting a face on even when they may be in a dark or sad place! – Anyone can face hard or sad times, at any time.
Achieve the Incredible is a platform to raise awareness, provide a helping hand and support individuals and projects in SW Birmingham when the ‘Going Gets Tough’
Communities that stand together CAN ‘Achieve the Incredible’ – Because WE Matter
It all started in Harborne, back in April 2018 with a complex and sensitive project ’A Place to Call Home’ for a well-respected, and much appreciated member of the community, a person who would never ask or accept help in any form. We felt in our hearts that if we built a relationship based on trust and respect together with the right approach, understanding and patience their acceptance may come.
Next step was to reach out to the communities where we distribute our hyper-local newspaper HEM Life for what we initially believed was a one off campaign. The support for this project and the encouragement to build a community hub was astounding.
We are delighted that our first project ‘A Place to Call Home’ is moving in the right direction, and most importantly at the pace of the person we are working with side by side. – Update 4th April 2019 – Please see our News Page
Additional support for the hub from local schools, colleges and businesses has helped us to sponsor community events ‘Reservoir of Values’ and ‘Artsmile’ which 100’s of adults and children enjoyed this summer.
With the hub evolving we are hopeful that we can continue to build relationships with individuals, supporters and community projects.
As we approached the ‘Season of Goodwill’ there was no better time to reach out further
Our biggest challenge to date was the launch of ‘SIDE by SIDE Fundraising Event’, the event took place in the safe and secure surroundings of Martineau Gardens on Saturday, 24th November. Guests had the option to leave before midnight or sleepout until 5am and have a hot breakfast before heading home.
We DID Achieve the Incredible as our pictures and videos show.
We raised awareness of the hub, met lots of great people, had fun and most of all 100% of the event ticket sales will help to keep people on the streets warm this winter with the money raised buying sleeping bags and donated to Let’s Feed Brum
